        Thank you for your letter of 23 September 2000 addressed to Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland, which has been passed to this department for reply.

        The information you have provided on insulin potentiation therapy (IPT) is most interesting.  However, before the World Health Organization can become involved, we would need to see a full dossier of scientific evidence that it is indeed effective.  We understand that the procedure has not yet been subjected to such an intensive scientific investigation.
